The Good News of Salvation Through Jesus Christ

The Gospel is the GOOD NEWS of what God has done in Christ to secure our salvation. This GOOD NEWS is found in God’s Word, the Bible, which is absolute truth. Jesus did for us, what we could never do for ourselves.

The reality: You aren’t a good person. Nobody is. Every one of us has failed to keep God’s Law, making us eternally unrighteous. We need 2 things: Someone to pay the penalty for our sins, and someone who kept the Law perfectly and will give us their record. Both are found in Jesus Christ.
In the beginning… God created the world and God created man, and put man in the garden to keep the garden. And God gave the man a command and he held that man to perfect obedience to that command and promised him life if he kept it, and death if he didn’t. Yet, he didn’t keep it and ate from what he was commanded to not eat, resulting in sin entering the world, and death through sin.
Everyone born from that man inherited that mans sin nature. Our world is broken because of that sin. We stand guilty before a holy and righteous God. We crave justice, but if he gives us justice we will die. But God in his goodness and mercy sent his son Jesus who was not born of sinful man, but of a virgin. Jesus obeys Gods law perfectly. He was fully God, fully man.

2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
God imputes our sinfulness to Jesus and nails our sinfulness to the cross. Christ dies and rises again on the 3rd day.
The righteous of Christ is imputed to us so that God can be both just and the justifier of those who place faith in Christ, so that all those who come to Christ may enter in. We aren’t just saved from the penalty or power of sin, but one day we are glorified in Heaven and saved from the very presence of sin.
Through Christ alone we have the full enjoyment of the glory of God. It had to be purchased for sinners at the cost of Christ’s perfect life through suffering and death. This enjoyment is free and there is nothing we can do to obtain it.

Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
How do we obtain this salvation? God’s word says we must repent and believe.

Repent: to be sorry for sin, and to hate and forsake it because it is displeasing to God.
Believe: to trust in Christ alone for salvation.
